Went to a protesting the war rally the other day on campus. It was a march to Border's and stuff, it was pretty interesting, fun, saw a lot of high school people. It was weird though, 'cause a lot of the people brought up points on how Bush was using 9/11 as an excuse to pursue his own vendetta and get at Iraq's oil, and yet a lot of the speakers used the rally as an excuse to beat down on capitalism and promote socialism. Not that I don't like socialism and all that, but it just seems almost hypocritical, the rally was about the war, and the pre-emptive bombing of Iraq, not about capitalism.
In other news, I finally downloaded this movie called "Hero", or "Ying Xiong". Chinese movie from 2002, s'posed to be really friggin' good, same genre as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, (that whole "wu xia" thing), except it's supposed to be a lot better. Anyhow, I got it, and it's in Chinese, and for some reason my computer hates me and I can't find the right codec to play it. Then again, even if I could play it, I think I'd have some problems understanding the Chinese, why do I suck? :(
On a related note, I think I totally fucked up my Chinese final today, argh. That class makes me sad, seeing as how I really am not good at the reading and writing. Just gotta work on it more, make flash cards and all that. Ok, done with whining.
So, back to Hero, it's supposed to be released in America in the near future, which is cool. On the other hand, it's being brought over by Miramax, and.., Miramax, likes to screw things up. They're cutting the length down by quite a bit from what I've read, and that's rarely ever a good thing. And supposedly, "Knocking on Heaven's Door" comes out in America soon too, I'm looking forward to that. Chances are it'll be dubbed, but oh well, it's cool to see anime on the big screen. And lastly, I saw Rurouni Kenshin on Cartoon Network the other day. Which is nice, but it was dubbed, which was painful. The original voice actors were all pretty good, especially Sanosuke, and hearing the American voice actor speak was just kinda painful. Such is the media.
